Union Advantages -
Higher population, which meant more human resources
Industrial development- the Union produced the majority of the nation’s firearms and railroad equipment
Transportation- The Union had more trains, horses, ships, etc. that gave that a huge edge over the Confederacy.
These advantages began to kick in after the Battle of Fredericksburg and around the Battle of Vicksburg. The Battle of Vicksburg was a huge win for the North, and the Battle of Gettysburg soon after was another huge victory for the North. After these battles, the Confederacy was split in half and had less access to supplies than the North did, which is when the transportation and resources really began to benefit the North.
