This was the year that there were no more Arawaks on the island of Hispaniola. They were completely wiped out by the spaniards when they had come to America and took the Arawaks as slaves. They had died of many different things. Some commited mass suicide, some through themselves off cliffs to escape Columbus, some were killed as slaves because they didn't do their job, and many kids died because their mothers would drown them not wanting them to suffer at Columbus' hands.
