In 1607 English colonizer John Smith met Powhatan. This is also when Jamestown was founded. John Smith said he knew didn't want to cause conflict with the tribe, he also said he knew how to respect and honor people. Although, he said many of those things, he didn't do any of those things, in fact he caused conflict with the tribe.
