"o" could be used either in between numbers or at the end of a number. This was only used as a placeholder and not used in mathematics yet.

Ptolemy writes an encyclopedic account of Greek scientific and mathematical discoveries and theory: Syntaxis Mathematica. This work is known as the Almagest, after the name al-Majisti (the greatest) given to the text during the Islamic Empire. Ptolemy's Almagest is the only surviving comprehensive ancient treatise on astronomy. Ptolemy presented his astronomical models in convenient tables, which could be used to compute the future or past position of the planets.
