When the vote of the people came in favor of his brother, Pahoran II, Paanchi was angry that he had not gained the judgment seat. So also were many of those who had supported him.

Among his followers were Kishkumen and Gadianton, who will be spoken of more later.

Paanchi and his followers began to arm themselves in preparation for open rebellion. When this was known Pahoran was forced to arrest his brother.
After a fair trial, at which Paanchi was convicted, Pahoran ordered him executed for treason.
