Roddy Doyle was born in Dublin. He is one of Ireland's most popular writers. He makes use of his great sense of humor when he writes about the ordinary lives of working and middle-class Dublin people. His first novel was "The Commitment" followed by "The Snapper" and "The Van", all of them made into films. He won the Booker Prize in 1993 for "Paddy Clark Ha Ha Ha"
