Descrizione:
On August 23, 1939, shortly before the World War II broke out, fascist Germany and Communist Russia signed the Non-Aggression Pact. This surprises the nations in Europe because two opposition was once bitter enemies, but they now agreed not to activate any military action against each other for the next 10 years. This was a very significant agreement between the two main countries because they were once very active to invade other nations and hoping to gain land. However, while Britain and France were having a discussion with the Soviet Union, Stalin also bargained with Hitler. And they both agreed on the Non-Aggression Pact. Therefore, I think this pact is very important because it marks a short period of peace right before World War II. I refer this agreement as the “calm before the storm,” because soon as World War II broke out, this pact means nothing. During World War II, the two countries fought against each other, Hitler invaded the Russian territory, and the pact broke out two years later. This pact benefits Hitler in many different aspects, as he wishes to strengthen his military power as well as focusing his army on one side of the country. This pact shows the importance of power, and how two opposing sides might lead to war.
