1 nov 1740 anni - Negro Act
Descrizione:
The Negro Act, passed in 1740, was a law that stated that slaves move abroad, assemble in groups, raise food, earn money, and learn to read English. Owners were allowed to kill rebellious slaves should the situation permit it.This was a further hindrance to slaves because it took away any chance of them becoming free. The Negro Act also made it mandatory for militias to patrol to prevent slaves from gathering the way they had in anticipation of the Stono Rebellion.
