1 gen 1705 anni - Slave Codes
Descrizione:
Slave codes were laws placed to govern the slave system of labor. These laws were set in place to make it impossible for Africans to live as free people. The codes stated that all “Negro, mulatto, and Indian” servants were slaves and means or property. This gave the slave owners full control over the slaves. Slave codes were even more reinforced by any uprisings or slave revolts. This became very controversial because the soon to follow American Enlightenment challenged the very ideals set into place by slavery because the foundation of the Enlightenment was based upon American Freedom.
