The Affordable Care act was the brain child of President Barak Obama. It was a law that guaranteed medical coverage to all people of the United States regardless of income. It offered coverage for preexisting medical conditions, but the law was opposed heavily by Republicans in congress. They said that it added many unnecessary taxes and took away states rights to choose. It was almost repealed in the Senate but was saved by John McCain’s no vote. Currently there is a majority democratic House of Representatives so the bill is likely to stay in place for the foreseeable future.
