The Cuban Missile Crisis was a crisis during the Cold War in which The Soviet Union placed nuclear missiles in Cuba to potentially strike at The United States. The resulting confrontation almost resulted in nuclear war. The crisis only ended when The Soviet Union agreed to remove its missiles from Cuba, in return for America’s agreement to remove their missiles from Turkey. The Crisis showed how dangerous the Cold War was for both sides, but that America was willing to negotiate with The Soviet Union.
