It is said that the Spring Reverb was invented during the 40's. In 1963 the Spring Reverb was produced, this was invented by Laurens Hammond. Spring Reverb worked in the same way as the plate reverb. having a pick up at one end and a speaker at the other, the coiled springs would vibrate back and forth to create its reverb effect. Many people find the reverb from springs slightly harsh.
