Primogeniture are laws that dictate that only the oldest son may inherit land. This means that the rest of the children received nothing. The younger sons would explore other profit inducing ventures. In this pursuit many Europeans settle in America looking to achieve wealth. British settlement began nearly half a century after the Black Legend. Many British came seeking a new life. Primogeniture pushed some British to come to the Americas.
