Descrizione:
Stono Rebellion (1739):
In South Carolina, on September 9, 1739 a group of slaves would spark an uprising along the Stono River. Slaves had heard that freedom and land was offered in Florida by the catholic governor at the time, and around 75 slaves banded together and fought their way out of captivity. They killed whites who opposed them and burned homes and barns as well. This became one of the largest slave rebellions in American history, but came to an end when the South Carolina Militia killed 44 of the slaves and ended the revolt.
