10 gen 1660 anni - Radisson and des Groseilliers Return To Montreal

Descrizione:

The two voyageurs return with a hundred canoes full of fur. Because they did not obtain a licence before they set out, the furs were confiscated and des Groseilliers was jailed briefly.

In 1662, unhappy with the administration in New France, Radisson and des Groseilliers sail to New England in search of investors for their trading expeditions.

In New England, Radisson and des Groseilliers proposed exporting pelts using the Hudson Bay as the route was shorter and allowed them to avoid paying taxes to New France. Over the next three years, there was interest from a few investors, but only one expedition actually sets sail for the North. It is forced back by ice in Hudson Strait, ending the business arrangements with investors from New England.
