It was a Supreme Court Case between parents Vera and Darius Swann who sued Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district to allow their son to attend the school closest to their home and then an integrated one. This happened in Charlotte North Carolina. The court ruled unanimous in favor of the Swanns and oversaw the implementation of a busing strategy that implemented schools. The cause was because of busing issues that existed where blacks would be taken to another school. This case was instrumental to public school integration has a profound affect on school systems across the US.
