1 ottob 1853 anni - “Who writes those funny accidents, where railroads meet each other unexpectedly, and gentlemen in factories get their heads cut off quite informally?” JL133
Descrizione:
In this letter to Dr. Josiah Holland and Elizabeth Holland, EMily discusses reading the accident reports in The Springfield Republican with Vinnie for entertainment. “The author, too,” she continues, “relates them in such a sprightly way, that they are quite attractive.” She may be critical of the light-hearted tone taken in the paper to describe serious matters which is brought to her attention, but her own town is one of disconnect to the people largely affected by these work accidents.
