By the 1960s, students who had cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy where receiving special education classes. Classes were established for these children and other program were also being created for students with "learning disabilities attributed to neurological impairments, aphasia and dyslexia". (Ellis & Axelrod, 2016, p.9).
