The German scientist found the bacteria that causes this common food poisoning involved illness and it's full name (Escherichia coli) is a hommage to it. E coli tends to have symptoms involving vomiting, bloody diarrhea and severe stomach pain, and while most of the bacteria is safe, and actually already is inside us, some strains do cause illness using Shiga toxin.
