When: 1676
What: A series of massacres and attacks towards American Indian villages on the Virginia frontier. Bacon and his forces defeated Sir William Berkeley’s forces and burned the Jamestown settlement. Became a prime example of the class difference between the wealthy and landless farmers. Another example of future colonial resistance to governmental power
Who: Nathaniel Bacon (impoverished farmer) and other small western farmers resented the treatment William Berkeley (the governor of Virginia) gave them compared to the attention and respect he gave the large plantation owners.
.Caused Royal governor Berkeley to flee back to England 
e.Bacon’s death ended the rebellion but led to colonial thoughts of  Independence
