The date is when it was "founded"- Immediately after the events of the first World War, Germany become known as the Weimar Republic. With the restrictions placed on the country through the TREATY OF VERSAILLES, they were thrown into economic turmoil. They struggled to make the reparation payments and there was a substantial amount HYPERINFLATION. This meant that Germany faced a major DEFICIT in the monetary sense.
