Description: Organized as a social club by white men in Tennessee, KKK members rode around the countryside harassing African Americans, issuing threats, spreading rumors, and destroying African American property.
Cause: Despite the rights that African Americans received, some people, such as the KKK, believed that blacks were still to be treated unequally. Their goal was to stop the Reconstruction Era.
Historical Impact: The KKK made Reconstruction difficult, and also killed many African Americans and white Republicans. Many blacks lived feeling afraid and harrassed.
