Description: Washington’s army camped near Pennsylvania, and endured unrelenting cold, hunger, and disease. Troops lacked shoes and blankets.
Cause: Lack of supplies during American Revolution.
Historical Impact: About 7,000 troops were too ill for duty, and 2,500 died. By March, 1778, strength began to restore.
