13 apr 1598 anni - Edict of Nantes
Descrizione:
The controversial edict was one of the legal statements that allowed religious tolerance in Europe and granted unusual religious rights to the Huguenots. It upheld rights for Protestants such as the freedom of conscience, and the right to hold public worship in many parts of the kingdom, excluding Paris. Otherwise, the edict restored Catholicism where Catholic practice had been interrupted. This was made only to be broken by Louis XIV, because once this absolute monarch came to power, he sent all of the Huguenots out of France.
