Ishmael and his new group traveled together, and one day they arrived at a village where they were not very well received. Because of the rumors, the people tie them up to interrogate them, then they take their shoes off and chase them out the village. They boys injured their feet as they walked in hot sand the whole day, barefooted. At dusk, they arrived at a fisherman's cabin, who received them gratefully and treated them with food, water and an antidote for their injuries. They stayed with this fisherman, which would not tell them his name, for two weeks. One day, the mother of their host told them to leave, as the village people were coming for them. They caught them and interrogated them, but they were allowed to leave by the chief after he asks Ishmael to tell him what rap music was, as he had his cassettes, then he asked him to perform it for him. Rap music saved them. In this particular chapter, Ishmael mentions the title of the novel: A Long Way Gone, which he refers to his life, because he has a new one, the one his living right now, in a war.

We think its an important event because it's a different one, a happy one for sure, apart from all the book that is dark and sad. It is also important because he also mentions why the novel was named A Long Way Gone, because his past life was literally gone, he wasn't a kid anymore and he was living a new one, during the war and between it.
