The Hoover Dam, on the border between the U.S states of Nevada and Arizona, is a concrete U-shaped Dam that turns flowing water into electricity. On average, the Dam generates about 4 billion kilowatts of hydroelectric power each year. From 1939 to 1949, the Dam was considered the largest hydroelectric installation in the world. Today it is one of the largest in the U.S.

The opening of the Hoover Dam in America, is important because it was the first big hydro power dam in the world. The Hoover Dam is very famous but not so known of its purpose. The Dam is esstential to the elecrecity being accessed by Americans in the U.S.
