The tea party protests are apart of a bigger group called the Tea Party movement. These activist have protested against state and federal taxes claiming for lower taxes. Their protests have been non violent and lasted about a year. It is based around anti-tax ideology that can be traced back as far as the Boston Tea Party, hence it's name.
