24 gen 1638 anni - Spain Raids Tortuga
Descrizione:
The French have settled in Tortuga, trading tobacco and attracting more French/Dutch smugglers. It becomes the first pirate den in the Spanish Main. Jean le Vasseur is sent by the French state to become the governor. Fugitives from all nations begin to flock there, as a common distrust of the Spanish united them. The Spanish raid Tortuga in 1638, and many locals who had warning survive. In the 1640s, all of Tortuga refer to themselves as Buccaneers, or Brethren of the Coast.
