The Novikov telegram was the soviet response to the Long telegram. Soviet ambassador to the the US, Nikolai Novikov, warned the USSR that the US was economically strong after WWII and that it was focused on world domination. Novikov suggested that that the USSR needed to secure its "Buffer zone" in eastern Europe. The Noikov telegram led to future, communist expansionism in Europe. The Novikov telegram mostly relates with the concept of espionage because it involved the discreet transfer of secret information.
