When Madison becomes president, he will try his own effort to make “let’s not trade with Britain and France but we can trade with everyone else”. This doesn’t make anything better!!
Who would’ve guessed that this was also a failure!
The Embargo Act of 1807 is the same idea. Trying to protect American industries.
The Non-Intercourse Act of 1809 is the same as the Embargo Act of 1807 BUT it just singles out Britain and France.
Britain is angry but France is kind of “eh”.
