Joan of Arc’s influence was not just felt during her time period, her change left lasting impressions that still help to influence current issues that women face in today’s society. We believe that the social issue that Joan would address in modern society is the issue of women not being able to serve in a combat role in the United States Army. Joan of Arc was a clear illustration of how women are not only able to handle this responsibility, but also proved that they can lead in a combat position as well, as she lead throughout the Hundred’s Year War. Joan tackled this issue, which was controversial during her time as well, by dressing in men’s clothing. However I believe that this would not be necessary in today’s society, since women have slowly earned their rights to be in the military, but I feel that Joan would be passionate about continuing these rights up until women are able to serve in a combative role as well. Many historical leaders leave marks on their Government through force, desperation and hope to change their countries for the good of mankind. Both of these people have deeply impacted the future of civilization. Who knows if we could be allowed to wear jeans and plain boyish
