The Peace of Westphalia was a series of peace treaties that marked the end of the era of European wars of religion. It essentially rearranged the government system by destroying the Holy Roman Empire, making France emerge as Europe's most powerful country and Prussia become a great power. The Netherlands and Switzerland both gain independence and Calvinism was added to the Peace of Augsburg.
