Scott Joplin was born on November 24th, 1868 around the border of Arkansas and Texas. He began playing piano as a young child and later became a travelling musician in his teenage years. He came from a musical family with his father being a violinist, and his mother a singer and banjo player. After discovering his musical talent, Joplin began playing at bars and dance halls. Little did he know, he would become much more the average musician.
