It was not called "The Boston Massacre'' until many years after it happened in 1773. Known as the Incident on King Street by the British Army soldiers. The first British troops arrived in Boston in October 1768 and from then onwards there was continuous antagonism between the people of Boston and then those trying to enforce the kings rules.
