The Minutemen were a colonist-led militia made up of volunteers who wanted to protect their cities and different communities. The Minutemen's purpose was to be ready at a short notice in order to defend against threats such as the army of Britain. Hence, the name Minutemen, when the men had to be ready for anything at any time.
