The British army shot and killed 5 people while under harassment by the locals. This encouraged rebellion against the British soldiers, causing violence and harmful threats towards them. This could have further influenced the local sovereignty because the people wanted to be able to create their own laws and they wanted to British out pf their lives and homes.
