4 marzo 1907 anni - Law passed by President Theodore Roosevelt
Descrizione:
President T. Roosevelt (Democrat) signed off on this Act quickly, as he himself was an activist for meat regulation soon after it was brought to his attention by The Jungle. This law would allow the Food and Drug Administration to regulate meat packing industries to ensure sanitary and safe environments for the food to be processed. Also, it ensures that the label accurately describes the contents of the food product. In the life of this law, major changes have been made. It has been expanded upon in the Poultry Products Inspection Act of 1957 and the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938. I chose this law because I recognized it from when we studied President Roosevelt in middle school.
