On October 12, 2000, The Shark Finning Prohibition Act was introduced to the House of Representatives by rep. Duke Cunningham, who is a republican rep for the state of California.He wanted to ban shark finning. This law was made because shark finning is very unethical, and to protect the sharks in US waters. The committees that considered this bill were: House Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans and Insular Affairs.
