Around the late 1800’s settlement houses began to help bring immigrants, citizen, the rich, and poor together.
A lot of immigrants came to America to get jobs. The settlement houses helped them to get jobs and adjust into a new country.
In the settlement houses, they were given medical care and classes on speaking english.
Since these houses were mostly in poor and immigrant neighborhoods, the settlement houses helped many people in need.
