A landmark Supreme Court case In 1954 that overruled "Plessy v. Ferguson", another case that's verdict stated that black and white schools were equal. This is an example of the Judicial branch using its power to check the Legislative branch which created laws that allowed segregation of schools.After the case of brown vs board of education, the national guard protects black students using their rights to go to a white school. This is an example of how checks and balances work by not allowing unconstitutional actions to be taken.
