In 1985 Blockbuster was founded and was an American company who rented out videos and DVD's It was most popular in 2004. It allowed people who could not afford to go to the cinema to rent movies for a period of time and was very popular at the time of release. Eventually streaming services such as Netflix began which was in the short term a lot cheaper than blockbuster and people found less interest in the company. this meant that stores began to overstock and also lose a lot of money this lead to blockbuster eventually having to shut down all of its stores and is now no longer seen.
