the committee of public safety was established to make sure that one individual didn't hold too much power. of course, this didn't last long and they were overthrown. there were nine seats on the committee and some of the people that filled those were Robespierre and Louis Saint-Just. Overall, the committe of public safety was a crucial part of the re volution because of the power they had.
