Robert Boyle was a modern chemist who believed that the Greek philosophers "four element" model could be improved. He published the book "The skeptical Chymist" that was based off his hypothesis that all matter was made of particles and clusters of elements presented by Aristotle. Boyle also helped lay out the concept of elements and compounds.
