The journey in the jet plane is to stop at mulitple destinations before reaching the final. From Calcutta to Bombay (now called Mumbai), then to Singapore, and finally Melbourne, Australia, where Saroo was to meet up with his new family before going to Tasmania, in Hobart Howrah, their residence.

Saroo lands in Melbourne on September 28th, 1987. He meets up with his adoptive parents, and is now Saroo Brierley.
Not too long after arrival, Saroo receives treatment for his poor condition as a result of poverty; tapeworms and other parasites, along with broken teeth and a heart murmur.
