Richard Blechynden, an english tea plantation owner, came to the St. Louis’ World Fair to give away free samples of his tea and to promote his business. Unfortunately no one was interested, due to the intense heat. So he served it with ice, inventing iced tea. Now, iced tea makes up 80% of all tea sales.
