9 gen 1946 anni - The "Apocalypse Movement”

Descrizione:

The “Apocalypse Movement” or “The New Apocalypse” was created in the early 1940s. The movement consisted of a group of British, Scottish, and also Welsh poets that wrote poems about the War World ll that had surrounded them. These collection of poems would later create The New Apocalypse Anthology. Some authors that were included in this movement were Dylan Thomas, Kathleen Raine, and Henry Treece. Even though each poet had a different topic for each of their works, each poet during this movement shared the common theme of surrealism and Romanticism. Again in each of their works, each poet uses the literary devices of foreshadowing and also visionary motifs to portray the possibility of the European civilization tragically collapsing. The “Apocalypse Movement”, like many other groups in this era, also rebelled out against the government. Henry Treece, in his 1946 novel, describes the movement as “In my definition, the writer who senses the chaos, the turbulence, the laughter and the tears, the order and the peace of the world in its entirety, is an Apocalyptic writer.”
