Benedictine Dr William Ullathorne arrived to Sydney and became known as the ‘Agitator General’ for his admirable conflict against the anti-papists. The arrival of Bishop J.B Polding was also a significant figure who gave Catholics guidance and helped to establish normal structures of parish life.
