Harriet Beecher Stow wrote the book as a way to try and convince people that slavery was not right. It shed more light to the northerners, but the southerners tried to ban the selling of the book which didn't end up working for them. The south believed the book was made up of distortions and falsehood. The book ended up creating more tension leading up to the Civil War.
