11 ottob 1925 anni - Innovations in montage.

Descrizione:

A Russian propaganda film was produced in the early 1900s to pay tribute to early Russian revolutionaries, but it ended up revolutionising how dramatic films were made. The silent film glorifies the tale of an uprising in which Russian sailors thwart tyranny aboard a ship. Directed by Sergey Eisenstein, who was one of the first directors to use montage (Editting a series of very short scenes into a longer sequence to overall shorten a long piece of plot), and revolutionised editing techniques in film up to modern day. He sums up the invasion of the Russian town and concludes the havoc and bloodshed in under 6 minutes with the use of a montage. This is heavily important today and influenced filmmakers later in the future, like John G. Avildsen, the director of rocky who uses a 2 minute montage to sum up months or years of training into a 2 minute edit. He took indirect influence from Russian filmmaker Sergey Eisenstein, who is one of the earliest filmmakers to use montage.
