Amerigo Vespucci born in Florence, Italy and sometime in his 20s, he moved to Spain. He had worked for the Serville agency Nd later Christoper Columbus on his second and third voyages. In 1499 Amerigo had set out on his first voyage as the ship's navigator and explored the north-eastern tip of South America. Amerigo had later set out on a disputed 2-4 more voyages to South America and upon returning to Europe had written about his voyages, believing they were at a new world and not the eastern coast of Asia. Soon after a German mapmaker had named today's South America as “America” after Amerigo Vespucci. The name had spread across Europe and the New World later became North America, Central America and South America.
